Our Experience with Food4Wealth

Food4Wealth

We have the land, we want a garden, WHAT NEXT????

This was our question recently as had just moved onto a nice property so we could grow our own vegetables. My wife and I have become increasingly concerned with the source of our food, both the security of supply as well as the quality of the food, even organic. In addition, the cost of organic produce is expensive as we all know and growing locally saves the environment.

I had been raised on a farm but it has been eons since I lived on one and my memory of gardening was a spring and summer of back breaking labor, beginning with tilling the land, then the endless weeding and finally the harvest followed by the fall clean up and putting things in order until spring.

We were up for the job but before we began I wanted a comprehensive guide to get started. Google results brought up an interesting site called Food4Wealth, by a guy named Jonathan White.

Jonathan is an environmental scientist and has been interested in horticulture all of his life. By applying his knowledge of both fields and using his findings studying the natural environment, Jonathan came up with the Food4Wealth system.

What caught my eye with the site was really 3 things.

First, they said the system was virtually labor free, just 8 hours of work per year in maintaining the garden with the most labor intensive being harvesting your bounty on an almost daily basis in order to keep things growing more. I was skeptical of this until I bought Food4Wealth and looked at Jonathan’s system. Indeed, his method of growing plants close together eliminates the need for weeding, as well, the way in which your prepare the ground eliminates tilling and constant watering. I was getting impressed.

Secondly, the site said we could grow all the vegetables we need in a 15 foot by 15 foot plot of land. Though we had a lot of land to work with, using only a small part for food appealed to my wife as she was really wanting a good plot with which to grow some lovely flowers in. I, being the practical male I am, said we would need to till the whole plot for food. Growing in such a tight area would not only free other land for us, but I could also see the amount of work we would need to do on an ongoing basis would be kept to a minimum. After all, how much would could a 225 foot plot really be?

Thirdly, Jonathan said his Food4Wealth program will grow food year round. We live near Vancouver, Canada and though we are not frozen as hard as the rest of our country, we still have some frosty nights and sometimes we do get a bit of snow. Jonathan provides lists of vegetables which work well for our climate in his system and are frost resistant. He also provides a schedule you can use in any climate zone and still get produce during every season.

So, we purchased Food4Wealth.

What we got was an Ebook explaining the whole system, a step by step plan to building our garden, a maintenance schedule as well as a complete list of materials.

Jonathon believes in keeping costs down and has many practical suggestions of ways and places to get free materials and offers alternatives to materials which may be expensive or hard to get in your area.

On top of this, we got a series of videos explaining exactly what to do at every step with shots of what our garden should be looking like at every turn.

The quality of all the materials is very professional and well done.

Where have we gone with this simple program? We are just getting started. At this writing we have marked out our plot and have begun composting. We are gathering materials to be used, things like old newspapers and dried grass. Soon we will begin to prepare the ground according to Jonathan’s directions and start our seedlings for our early spring crops.

My wife and I are also excited about starting a fruit garden using the same Food4Wealth methods and growing strawberries, raspberries and apples in it. The directions are included in the program guide.

Jonathan White’s system for growing an eco-organic garden is really second to none. It is based upon sound principles and concepts. It is easy to use and not expensive to set up and maintain. Finally, the system requires little work during set up and throughout the year. We highly recommend Food4Wealth!

Planting a vegetable garden really isn’t that hard and growing your own organic vegetables isn’t rocket science. Anyone can easily learn how to grow your own organic vegetables. After all, organic is the way the earth has been producing food up until after the second world war.

A simple start can be done in planter boxes or if you have more room, raised beds. These can be built with lumber from you local hardware store or in some cases bought assembled or in kits. Once you have your container, you will need to fill it with organic potting soil. Starting with a commercial mix is best as these have been tested and optimized for growing. As you go along you can begin to compost to make new nutrient rich soil from vegetable scraps. This can be done with small worm composters you can have on your deck or with a full sized model from the garden shop. Many cities and towns offer composters to their residences at subsidized rates to encourage their use and also divert vegetable matter from the usual waste stream.
It is best to start in the spring, as the weather warms up and there is no chance that frost will hinder you as you grow your own vegetables. Make sure you buy seeds which are heritage or certified organic to start. Some great things to begin with are lettuce, tomatoes, peppers and beans. Root vegetables are also great to start with but make not be ready until later in the season. Water is vital to the life blood of your crop. Ensure you have a ready source, and if you are gardening on a deck or patio which is above another living area, ensure the drainage will not effect your neighbors.
Within a couple of days of planting the seeds, you will see sprouts. This can be very exciting and rewarding as you know your harvest of rich organic vegetable are on their way. Continue to monitor the weeds in your plot and pull any which are seeming to sprout up. A good tip is to organize the garden with little open space to utilize the entire area and also to reduce places weeds can grow. A good resource to help you do this is called Food4Wealth. This program really shows one how to grow your own organic vegetables.
Continue to water and weed, and be patient as things begin to grow. Lettuce should be able to be harvest in a few short weeks and with give you firm fresh leaves until the first frost shows up. Other vegetable will take a little longer. Check on the package the seeds can in. Often there is lots of information on growing time on them or in a website listed by them.
So, plant your own vegetable garden, learn how to grow your own organic vegetables and say goodbye to bland tasteless veggies and the high cost of buying the at the store.

What is Food4Wealth?

October 28th, 2010  |  Published in Food4Wealth Review

The challenge of gardening is combining pest ecology, plant ecology, soil ecology and crop management into a method that is reliable and efficient. Food4Wealth creator Jonathon White shows you exactly how to do this in this simple method.
This method is different than traditional gardening which requires a series of solutions for problems arising from the garden. Traditional gardeners spend many hours working, weeding, running to the store to buy more products and spending more money only to find more problems arising. The problem is not with the garden per se but with the method they use to garden. The work that is done on the garden leads to more work being required and thus begins the never ending cycle.
White shows you how to make use of every inch of space in your garden for growing your own food. Where there is a plant producing food, there is no room for weeds and no need to remove them. Water is retained in the soil thus eliminating the need to constantly water. Food4Wealth will show you exactly how to lay out your garden, tell you what to grow and where and give you step by step instructions in both video and book form that is easy to follow and implement. Your largest chunk of time will be taken up in harvesting your food, which will need to be done almost daily in order to keep up with the growth from your garden and run it as a natural ecosystem.
The garden size can be almost any size and can even be done with a few small planter boxes on a patio or deck. Jonathon White uses a 15′ X 15′ plot which supplies him with enough vegetables year round for him to eliminate this expense from his food bill, all this being done in a cold climate.
Food4Wealth will show you how to produce a natural ecosystem in your backyard, just like in nature, to grow all the vegetables you can eat in a small plot, without the back breaking labor intensive work of a traditional garden and best of all, they are all organic. Anyone can get started today.
